I was in Baton Rouge this weekend, and I ran by the Old State Capitol building. No
tripods are allowed, so I had to jack up the ISO and shoot wide open,
along with bracing myself against anything I could. The 5D keeps amazing me at it's high ISO performance. These were taken at ISO 1000-1250.

Background info: There is a stretch of road on my way to work (Hwy 11, New Orleans) that runs through Bayou Sauvage. This road is notorious for burned out cars mysteriously appearing. Therefore, we say the "Swamp Fire" got another victim.

I took this picture of myself in Fort Pike. I wanted to portray a broken spirit along with the dilapidated condition of the Civil War era fort. Fort Pike is located in New Orleans and was severely damaged by Hurricane Katrina.

While traveling through South Mississippi, I saw a large area of these beautiful wildflowers along I-59, so I had to stop. The flowers were growing on 4 or 5 foot stalks,and the stalks were growing close together. If you can ID this flower, please post it as a comment.

EDIT: Thanks to someone on gardenweb.com, the flower has been identified as a Showy Crotalaria (Crotalaria spectabilis).

This shows a fishing camp destroyed by the 20' storm surge of Hurricane Katrina. Located along the banks of Lake Pontchartrain near New Orleans, Irish Bayou is a small fishing community virtually destroyed by the storm.

This was taken at Fort Morgan, which is located along the Gulf Coast, positioned at the entrance of Mobile Bay in Alabama. This particular shot is of a casemate, where cannons would fire out the ports. The stone arcs in the floor is where the cannon wheels would rotate.
